My favorite photo from the World Press Photo exhibition, which is at Annenberg through January 30


What an amazing shot. I must have stared at it for ten minutes, overcome by its stark metaphor for American politics: the waiting officials in black, secretive; the dividing curtain; the rabid crowd. This is our elaborate, democratic charade.

Kodak is killing its 70 year-old “boxed K” logo


Decisions like this must look very different on the inside. I’m sure the Kodak people are really sick of their “old” brand—but it’s one of the best out there, inseperable from photography for consumers. Photography is photography, digital or not.
