Flying

Here ya go.

I’m on the way from Dallas to Orlando right now. The flight from California to Texas was pleasant. They decided to change my seat for this flight… first class. No complaints here. It’s quite nice.

Anyway, I’m finally done with the Spring semester. It went by very quickly… Exams were crazy… different from Fall. Probably the same level of difficulty, but this time it was mostly engineering stuff, which makes the experience better for me. The calculus final was hardcore; I guess I’ll find out how I did the official way. My professor skipped town right after the exam, so I doubt he’ll be e-mailing me about my grade.

I’ve registered for Fall ‘02… The next advanced physics course; the next EE course (where we actually get to do things that involve the electrical component of electrical engineering); the next computer science class, featuring a notoriously bad professor; music theory for majors; individual instruction in percussion; the eningeering honors program colloquium; a class where I get to learn to play the piano. Is that it? I think there’s more. I’ll get back to you.

I also built in space in my schedule for marching band practice. If I can play without injuring myself (some more), I want to do it. My therapist, whom I was sad to leave in mid-treatment, thinks it’s possible. After a series of exhausting diagnostics, he is certain that I hardly have any symptoms of tendonitis anymore, both at my wrist (the site of surgery) and near my elbow (where it’s been hurting lately). Instead, he thinks that I have a nerve entrapment. The causes for it are unclear; it could be from the tendonitis, from muscle overuse, from genetics, or any of a number of other things.

Anyway, the solution to this is to stretch out the nerve. That helps to fix up any scar tissue from the surgery, and should help free the nerve. It should also let me play the drums again, and enable me to write normally.

Looks like we’re heading into Orlando. I’ll write some more soon.
