Klondike - The Original.

mmmm, Klondike bar. mmmm.

A few of my friends seem kind of far-off lately. Kinda strange. Blargh.

So, I spent about eight (that’s 8) hours today re-working my classes @ USC. To make a long story short, marching band practice conflicted with my CS 102 lecture. Aftermath: I’m dropping Calc III until next semester, and adding the CS survey course, CS 105. This decision was not so easily reached, of course. I moved classes around on paper for about 4 hours until giving up. At one point, I had dropped 16 units of my 17 unit schedule and added them somewhere else. (!!!) That’s some pretty hardcore scheduling. It would be really easy, except all the sections are closed because it’s so late in the summer…

Anyway, I guess I’m only taking 16 units now. I could take a freshman seminar now, I guess… Blargh. I’ll be busy enough.

Anyway, after my scheduling fun (and during — it’s still going on — more on that in a sentence or two), I picked up Jen from band camp (hahaha) and then went to see Colleen. Happy. :)
I really shouldn’t parenthetically interrupt myself so much (really, I shouldn’t). Anyway, yes, my scheduling troubles are not yet done. I need D-clearance to get into CS 105, which my advisor needs to grant me. No big deal, but it still has to be done. I requested this in my seventh email today to him. Sheesh. :) He’s been pretty darn helpful, though.

These posts are getting longer and longer. meh!

just a little flag cleaning

oy, penny arcade, you gotta love it.

I don’t feel like doing anything right now. I don’t feel like working on anything… I don’t feel like sleeping. I don’t feel like reading.

Hrmmm.

LBHS band camp starts tomorrow. Hahahaha!

Blargh. Changed a few things on your left. Hope you like it.

big dumb rocket

made an OLP wallpaper tonight. geekery.

i just feel like crying right now. get me out of here, damnit.

Trip…

So, I’m on a plane now to Orlando. On the way back from USC, of course.

The flights over were good. Mom and I are flying Frontier - cheapo, but not too bad. Food’s pretty decent, at least. We left Tuesday morning, Dad took us to MCO. No delays to DIA, or LAX. Cool.

Got to L.A. Found our airport Radisson. Rented one white Daewoo Lanos. snicker What a compact. The very definition. Not too bad, though, for what I’m sure it cost. Heck, I could probably buy 4 or 5 of them with my tuition for one year at USC. Heh.

Let’s see. They put me up in the New Residential dorm (excuse me - Community) which was actually pretty nice. My roommate was, not coincidentally I think, also named Chris, majoring in CS (although we both changed later to CECS), and hooked up @ the USC Radisson this fall. He was cool, although I wouldn’t want to be roomed with him for a year.

USC was 100% freakin’ awesome. Everything was well planned. We had some general orientation and stuff all throughout the two-day session. There was a lot of cool stuff though. I’ll try to hit it all in chronological order.

My orientation advisor was a guy named Mike Ramirez. Real cool. He was an advisor for me and about 10 others. I got to know a few of them pretty well. I’m very excited about all the racial diversity. No LBHS, that’s for sure. w00!

More… There was a pep rally at the end of Wednesday. Soooo awesome. There was a bit of the band there. Soooo awesome. You see, the next day, I talked to the DL section leader… That would be approximately when I signed up. :) He’s going to email me some information, and I’m going to practice until I need surgery. Again. :)
That next day (Thursday) was also when I registered for classes. I’m taking: CS 102 (passed out of 101), writing 140 (mandatory), some history class (goes with previous), and Calc III. Yeah, that’s a 3. You see, they gave me a math placement test on Wed., on which I scored a 38/40. This is very good, I’m told. I didn’t talk to anybody even in the 30’s, so I guess I’m good to go. That score, combined with my BC 5, put me in Calc III. I accepted. Oh, I’m also taking the Honors Engineering colloquium, for a total of 17 units. w00.

Cool things I forgot to mention:
Coffee is good. Had a latte and a “trojan chiller” (mocha frappaccino).
I’ll get ethernet in the Radisson within 1-2 weeks of move-in.
Went to dinner with my mom at Gladstone’s last night. Broiled scallops on the sands of Malibu. Doesn’t get much better, folks.
“Naveed” is my official themesong, at the moment.

That’s all for now. More news at ten to the hour, every hour. Go Dodgers!

Later

Well, I’m off to CA for orientation.

Cya on the flipside.

A real bad day.

And it’s only just begun. Yuck.

Joe was pissed at me about this water fight thing. Grrr. Nothing I can do.

My life is being controlled by my family. (There’s some relatives in town.) I can’t go to work. Because I had to go out to lunch with them. And I can’t go out tonight. Because I have to go out to dinner with them.

It’s been a real bad fscking day.

Title.

Our Lady Peace, you rock my world. Thank you.

I forgot to mention in my last post all the things that Colleen did for my party. She made deserts — not just one, but two — which were quite yummy.

Also, did I mention the ring she bought me just two days ago? It’s really nice. My dad has come up to me at least 3 times saying, “Wow, that’s really nice. I would wear that myself, seriously.” Heh, cool.

Partaaaay

Wow, thanks to everyone who came to my party. I had a real good time… :) It was fun.

I’m gonna miss everybody… :( There are some people specifically who I just don’t want to leave behind (well, not like they’re staying, either…). It’s OK, I guess. Or so it should be.

Mmmmm, leftover party food.

No, I don’t really talk like that. I have been noticing lately, though, that I’m getting really damn good at PHP+MySQL. I’ve been rocking hard on several projects lately.

In other news, the USPS finally payed up for smacking my car a few months ago during senior lunch. They payed $750+ dollars — time to get that thing fixed Aristocrat style.

Time flies…

Nova Lingua is completely consuming my life.

I have done little else on the computer for the last few days except NL. I design, I code. It’s fun, but wow!, my days are slipping away.

Duuuuuude

I love colleen!

argh

So, Elyse is going to screw us over. Great. She “quits.”

“drop”

she said to just drop everything
she said she feels bad
she said she’s sorry again

i said we’ll talk tomorrow

but when she dropped everything
i couldn’t let go of the hurt.
i can’t pull her arrows from my back.

they linger like the loser hook of a pop piece.

branded on me for at least
until i can concentrate
on something
more
important.

Well, that wasn’t great, but for my first self-inspired poem ever, it wasn’t bad either. I’m a newbie, people, just copping everyone else’s tricks.
